Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Respond to the needs of production supervision when manufacturing problems and break downs occur.
  • Ensure operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on CNC equipment, conveyors, ovens, motors, blowers, and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, engineering specifications and troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices and electrical logic in operation and repair the problem.
  • Fabricate repair parts by using power equipment, welders, etc.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
  • Maintain proper communication with shop floor employees, supervision, and management.
  • Perform basic building maintenance such as plumbing, electrical work, exterior building tasks.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices. • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, or straightedges.
  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools.
  • Paint or repair roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures
  • Design new equipment to aid in the repair or maintenance of machines, mechanical equipment, or building structures.
  • Travel to / attend specialized classes, seminars, or training at the company’s expense to aid in fulfilling the requirements of this position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • The ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints and schematics to trouble shoot equipment.
  • Additional education or experience in mechanical, electrical and control troubleshooting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of control circuits that utilize both relay and solid-state logic including Programmable Logic controllers and Variable Frequency Drives
  • Knowledge of CNC machinery
  • Individual should be strongly self-motivated and a team player.
  • Able to meet or exceed physical requirements (see physical requirements form)
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude
  • Knowledge of Single and 3 Phase power circuits and 110 VAC and 24 VDC control circuits
  • Metal fabrication and wood construction knowledge
  • Must possess a driver’s license and pass a motor vehicle screen.
